The French luxury-premium brand DS Automobiles’ limited-edition DS 7 Vauban promises high-end protection without compromising the car’s performance and elegant refinement. It emerged from a solid collaboration between the French Stellantis subsidiary and the German WELP Group, which previously partnered for the DS 7 ÉLYSÉE used by France’s President, Emmanuel Macron.
Entirely manufactured in France and assembled in Hérimoncourt, the DS 7 Vauban takes its name from Marquis Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban, a French military engineer, whose work is reflected in more than 100 fortresses. Many of the fortifications he designed have stood the test of time, with twelve of them being part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
Paying homage to the French engineer but to also highlight the high-end protection level the premium car has to offer, the brand put the luxurious SUV to an unexpected test conceived by award-winning agency Marcel Agency and produced by Prodigious. Designed to offer maximum protection, the DS 7 model is a “masterpiece of design and armor,” being manufactured using aramids, HPPE fibers, armored steel, and safety glass.
In line with New Year’s tradition of lighting up fireworks and wanting to test the French SUV’s impressive armor, DS Automobiles conducted its own fireworks extravaganza that’s definitely out of the ordinary. Instead of pointing the fireworks to the sky, the feu d’artifice — documented in a one-and-15-min-long video – is intentionally directed at the car. But these sparkling missiles manage to get past the car’s protective barrier? Why not check the below video to see how Olivier François, the CEO of DS Automobiles, reacts to this pyrotechnic show?
