Visual Identity Frames Olive Oil as a Potion of Health and Wellness

The bond between humankind and the olive tree spans millennia and extends far beyond its role as an agricultural and historical symbol. The link between humans and the tree is spiritual and it is also deeply connected to medicine and holistic healing, with oils used not only in rituals but as a key ingredient in medicinal practices. Today, olive oil is part of culinary experiences; however, people continue to appreciate it as an elixir of wellness, health, and balance.

This rich history is what prompted Nikolos to create OLIVIXIR, a premium Greek organic extra virgin olive oil. To position the olive oil as a natural health elixir product, the brand reached out to the award-winning creative team at ABC Design Communication, who brought this legacy to life by framing the product as a potion of health, bottling it with so much care so that its essence is perfectly preserved.

Drawing inspiration from 19th-century pharmaceutical labels, the agency sculpted a visual identity that sits at the intersection between scientific precision and premium aesthetics. The packaging design is a visual reminiscent of the old pharmaceutical ones, with each element designed to unlock a journey through a time when people relied on natural remedies.

Minimal yet noble in visual terms, the package mimics the look of old pharmaceutical boxes. With vintage design and botanical illustrations, the boxes evoke the experience of shopping in an old apothecary. The typography and illustrations, paired with matte and shiny details, reveal a tableau that speaks about the refined quality of the product.

Opening the box is an experience similar to uncovering a secret, precious, healing elixir; designed to enhance the product’s values, the bottle is made of dark glass. The choice not only shrouds the product in mystery, but it also keeps the contents’ antioxidant qualities in perfect condition. A “reminiscent of alchemy laboratories,” the label visually “seals” the OLIVIXIR experience, inviting consumers to slow down and connect with the product on a spiritual, holistic level.

As per the agency, “Every element of the presentation has been carefully considered — from the visuals that evoke old pharmaceutical prints to the texture and weight of the packaging. The OLIVIXIR experience goes beyond taste; it is a journey through tradition, science, and aesthetics. Ideal for those who seek the ultimate in quality and design, OLIVIXIR is a symbolic olive oil: the epitome of natural luxury, captured in a modern elixir of life.”
